Evaluation and Implementation

Effective learning doesn’t end at design—it requires rigorous evaluation and strategic implementation. This supra-badge highlights my ability to assess instructional impact, refine learning solutions, and develop dissemination strategies to ensure long-term success. Here, you’ll find the sub-badges I’ve earned, along with artifacts and reflections demonstrating my expertise in measuring and scaling learning interventions.

Evaluation and Implementation felt different from many of the other competencies in the program because it focused less on creating learning experiences and more on determining whether those experiences actually worked. As someone who has spent most of my career in corporate Learning and Development, I have learned that launching a learning solution is often the easy part. The harder part is understanding whether learners used it, whether performance improved, and whether the initiative created value for the organization. This supra-badge reinforced the idea that instructional design does not end when a course is built or delivered.

Several of the competencies within this supra-badge pushed me to think differently about evaluation. In the projects for this supra-badge, I spent time designing formative and summative assessments, but the larger lesson was understanding why those assessments mattered. Formative evaluation provided opportunities to identify learner misunderstandings and improve the learning experience before completion, while summative evaluation focused on determining whether learners achieved the intended outcomes. Rather than viewing assessment as a requirement at the end of a project, I began viewing it as a source of information that helps instructional designers make better decisions.

The implementation side of the supra-badge connected particularly well to my professional experience. Through projects such as the AI Essentials micro-learning course, I was required to think beyond the content itself and consider how a learning solution would be introduced, communicated, and supported within an organization. This included identifying stakeholders, anticipating barriers to adoption, and aligning the initiative with broader organizational goals. These considerations felt very similar to challenges I encountered at Genesco, where even well-designed programs could struggle if implementation planning and stakeholder support were overlooked.

Looking back, this supra-badge changed how I think about success in instructional design. Earlier in my career, I often viewed a finished course or program as the end of the project. Today, I see it as the beginning of a larger process that includes adoption, measurement, feedback, and continuous improvement. The competencies in this supra-badge reinforced the importance of collecting meaningful data, learning from implementation challenges, and making adjustments over time. Those lessons continue to influence how I approach learning initiatives and have made me more effective at connecting learning efforts to organizational results.

Evaluate Instructional and Non-Instructional Interventions

Measuring effectiveness is key to continuous improvement. This sub-badge highlights my ability to assess learning solutions, analyze outcomes, and refine interventions to enhance impact.

Challenge 1: Implement formative evaluation plans

Challenge 2: Implement summative evaluation plans

Challenge 1: Create a vision of change that aligns learning and performance goals with organizational goals

Design a Plan for Dissemination and Diffusion of Instructional and/or Non-Instructional Interventions

Great learning solutions need strategic implementation. This sub-badge showcases my expertise in developing plans to distribute, scale, and integrate learning initiatives for long-term success.
